Code of Conduct

Everyone is entitled to experience AFL and AFLW games and events in an enjoyable, safe, supportive and inclusive manner. As part of your membership of the Adelaide Football Club, you are required to adhere to this Code of Conduct in respect of your behaviour during all Club-related activities and interactions. The Adelaide Football Club may replace or vary this Code of Conduct at any time and without notice.

Adelaide Football Club members must comply with this Code of Conduct at all times when:

  • attending AFL or AFLW matches (whether at home or away, and including finals);
  • interacting with the Club, the Club's players, personnel, officials, members and fans, other AFL clubs and their players, personnel, officials, members and fans, the AFL and any of the AFL's personnel or stakeholders including umpires, match officials, and venue staff and security personnel (collectively, Participants), including by telephone or online including on social media or via email; and/or
  • enjoying any other benefits of Club membership.

Each member must:

  1. behave in a manner that upholds the Club's values and does not have an adverse effect (and ideally has a positive impact) on the reputation and prestige of the Club;
  2. treat all Participants respectfully and with dignity and courtesy at all times;
  3. not behave in an abusive, bullying or aggressive way towards any person, including Participants. This includes swearing, excessively rude or abusive language or gestures, racial or gender-based vilification or abuse, violence, discrimination, insults, threats, harassment, intimidation, assault, provocation, sexual harassment or otherwise acting in an abusive manner;
  4. not commit any act of violence or aggression in any form;
  5. not engage in any unlawful activity;
  6. always consume alcohol responsibly, comply with any directions of venue staff regarding alcohol consumption, and not become intoxicated to the point of being a disturbance to other attendees;
  7. not bring to any venue, consume or be under the influence of any illegal drugs;
  8. adhere to any applicable Club or venue dress code;
  9. comply with any terms of entry of Adelaide Oval or any other venue hosting a Club game or event, including but not limited to submitting to bag inspections or other security checks;
  10. not enter the field of play unless specifically authorised to do so by the Club or relevant authority;
  11. not cause a disturbance at a game or other event that inappropriately disrupts or lessens the experience of other attendees;
  12. not bring to any venue any prohibited or restricted items such as flares, missiles, weapons, flammable, toxic or corrosive liquids or substances, dangerous articles or any other items that have the potential to cause injury or damage;
  13. cooperate with the Club in any investigation into a breach of this Code of Conduct by the member or any other member; and
  14. not attempt, or incite or encourage any other member, to do anything that would breach this Code of Conduct.

The consequences of failing to comply with this Code may include, in the Club's discretion, one or more of the following:

  • exclusion or eviction from the relevant venue or event;
  • permanent or temporary bans or suspension from attending future Club and/or AFL matches or events (whether of the same or a different kind);
  • permanent or temporary suspension or termination of membership or sponsorship benefits (either in part or in full, and without any entitlement to refund); and/or
  • reference to the AFL, police or other authorities.

The Club will determine the appropriate sanctions for a breach of this Code of Conduct in its sole discretion. The Club will act reasonably in investigating and assessing any breach of this Code of Conduct, but reserves the right to make the final decision regarding any breach or alleged breach of this Code of Conduct and the consequences of that breach.

Members must ensure that any person accompanying the member to a game or other event, or that uses the member's ticket to attend a game (but not if the ticket has been returned under the Seat Return Program) (Guest) complies with this Code of Conduct as if they were a member, and a member may be held responsible for the behaviour of the member's Guests and any failure by them to adhere to this Code of Conduct. The consequences above may apply to a member personally if their Guest fails to comply with this Code of Conduct.

The Club encourages its members and fans to support the Club enthusiastically and passionately, but that support cannot cross the line into offensive behaviour or conduct that may harm or negatively impact on others. The Club is committed to fostering a friendly, safe and inclusive environment for the benefit of all Participants.
