The Adelaide Crows Queensland Supporters Group was founded back in 1998. It began when the Club ran an advertisement in the Courier Mail titled “CALLING ALL CROWS”. The ad invited supporters to a gathering, by chance, we happened to see the paper that day - something we didn’t normally do - and decided to go along.
The meeting was surprisingly well attended. Then-Communications Manager, Steven Trigg, introduced himself and explained the Club’s interest in forming a Queensland supporters group. He encouraged anyone interested to have a chat with him afterwards. As the afternoon wound down, we found ourselves the last ones still talking with Trigg. With a smile, he asked, “So do you two want to take it on?”
Over the past 27 years, our group has grown and evolved, with a strong focus on match-day functions. For live games in Queensland, this usually means a post-match gathering, and in Brisbane. On the Gold Coast, our game days often include pre-match functions featuring guest speakers from the Club.
Because the fixture changes each season, our functions depend on whether we secure a home game in Brisbane or on the Gold Coast (on the odd occasion, both). Where possible, we organise pre- and/or post-match events. We will occasionally have match day at a local pub and also have regional groups that host game day at their local to watch the matches together. We always hold raffles at any of our functions with prizes including signed guernseys and Footballs. Funds from these raffles go to funding future prizes and food platters.
You can keep up to date with all official functions and activities by joining the Adelaide Crows Queensland Supporters Group Facebook page. There you’ll also find calls for Banner Squad and Guard of Honour participation on game day for both AFL and AFLW, plus details of our annual tipping competition.
